Upon examination of the planner, the literacy section was removed. It was decided that it was doubling up in planning as the content was also contained in the teacher's literacy planning documents. We looked at the Year 3 Space Term 2 unit with the addition of enduring understandings and focus question and agreed that these were purposeful additions. Focus question, enduring understandings and the unit rationale will all be included.
In relation to General Capabilities and Cross Curriculum Priorities were examined. The current pro forma has a tick-a-box format to indicate if these areas have been addressed. However, it doesn't make it clear to the reader what, how and why it is included in the unit. It could be construed as tokenistic with just a tick and no justification. In the cross curriculum priorities the Asia and Australia's engagement box was highlighted as earthquakes in Australia and Japan are explored and compared. The box will be left with the other capabilities and cross curriculum perspectives to see what has been highlighted. Underneath the area ticked a brief sentence needs to be included to make it explicit was teaching surrounds that particular capability or cross curriculum persective.
